9 Reasons to buy a holiday home in Pattaya

Contrary to popular belief, buying a house in Thailand is as risk-free an investment as buying a house in more traditional holiday destinations such as Spain or Italy. Buying property in Thailand is associated with many prejudices and unsubstantiated rumours. These are mainly caused by ignorance.

Having your own apartment in Thailand is a good investment, even from an economic point of view. Buying your own apartment as an investment is in many ways a unique opportunity to realise the dream of living in the Land of Smiles. For example, by purchasing two small apartments, you can finance your livelihood and stay in Thailand for the rest of your life. You would live in your own home at minimal monthly housing costs of only about one euro per square metre. By renting out your apartment part-time throughout the year, you can easily earn back a round trip to Thailand and even have an amount left over to support yourself. You should also take into account the expected sharp rise in property values in Thailand’s premier destination.

Thailand’s most versatile destination

Pattaya has completely revamped its image as a sex tourism or rest and recreation destination for the US military. Prostitution districts can still be found here, as in all major cities, but are strictly concentrated in their own zones. Phuket, which once enjoyed a reputation as a luxury travel destination, has a much worse sex industry reputation among many tourists. Today, Pattaya is considered by far the most diverse city in Thailand thanks to a wide range of activities and attractions accessible to all. Pattaya is a bustling city and a major tourist destination with the best shopping, dining and recreational activities in Southeast Asia. So you can easily enjoy the luxurious and diverse life there, no matter how long you stay. You will find all possible activities except winter sports. Although Pattaya is a big city, its quiet neighbourhoods are also right next to the city centre, such as Pratamnak Hill where the Siam Oriental projects are located.

Daily luxury for all

A very affordable price that puts the quality of life in Thailand – and Pattaya in particular – in a class of its own compared to, say, Spain or Turkey. With a little money, you can afford many daily luxuries, such as laundry, cleaning and massage services. You can also eat out daily in nice restaurants. Many retirees wintering in Pattaya reportedly cannot afford to stay in Europe during winter. A significant majority of Thai residents in Pattaya ensure that the price level is by far the cheapest compared to other major tourist destinations in Thailand – daily expenses are 30% cheaper compared to Phuket, for example.

Health services

Healthcare is much better than in Europe. With travel insurance, you can get immediate treatment in many high-class hospitals, such as Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. This allows operations to take place immediately without a months-long wait. Pharmacies can be found in almost every corner. The cost of medicines is only a fraction of European prices. Prescription drugs are readily available from the various clinics in the city.

Buddhist service culture

Thailand is not called the Land of Smiles for nothing. Thai friendliness and service orientation is of a very different order than in European countries. That is why it is so easy to fall in love with Thailand. Here, you will find something new every day.

Climate

Thailand’s climate is ideal for those who love tropical heat. The temperature stays around 32 degrees (+/- 5 degrees) all year round – even at night. The coolest and driest months are from November to April, right during the tourist season. May is usually the hottest month and the rainy season is in September-October. The designation ‘rainy season’ is very misleading in Pattaya. The rain here usually lasts only for 1 to 2 hours, later in the day, which makes for a pleasant cool down. Uninterrupted rainfall is very rare. In short, you can fully enjoy your stay here even during the rainy season.

Proximity to Bangkok provides variety

If you can’t find something in Pattaya, you will undoubtedly find it in Bangkok. Bangkok is just a few hours away from Pattaya. Suvarnabhumi International Airport is just over an hour away, and from there you can easily travel anywhere in Asia with just a few tens of euros in your pocket. Therefore, it is interesting to take weekend trips from Pattaya to destinations that would be too expensive from Europe.

Gourmet paradise

Due to its location and popularity, Pattaya has residents from all over the world. Consequently, you will find cuisines from more than 100 different countries here. In this gastronomic paradise, you will find thousands of restaurants in different price categories. At the cheapest, you can eat well in Thai restaurants for less than 1 euro.

Golf paradise

Around Pattaya, you will find about 30 golf courses of different levels within a 45-minute drive. Green fees range from five euros to 100 euros. Playing is made easy through dozens of bars that organise daily trips to golf courses, including breakfast, transport and bag storage.
