Ever dreamed of your own piece of paradise on the breathtaking Adriatic coast? Montenegro is a melting pot of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

But which places are really popular among house seekers? And what makes these locations so special? Let’s explore the possibilities together.

The country in southern Europe is known for its amazingly beautiful coastline and rugged mountainous landscape with clear lakes inland such as at Durmitor, Montenegro’s largest national park. Places like Kotor, Kolasin and Budva are well worth a visit.

Budva, the Miami of the Balkans

Bustling Budva invites you with its modern apartments and traditional homes. Here you combine relaxation at the beach with luxury. And say, who doesn’t want to come home to a city known for its hospitality and sunny personality?

Kotor, where history comes alive

The Bay of Kotor is one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro. Not for nothing is this bay on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The old port city is located on the Bay of Kotor, a deep inlet of the Adriatic Sea.

This is truly breathtakingly beautiful and without a doubt the highlight is the medieval town of Kotor. Here, in the old center, time seems to stand still. The old town is surrounded by a fortress wall and was a colony of Venice since the Middle Ages. It is one of Montenegro’s main tourist attractions.

Tivat, the luxury port city

Tivat is the epitome of luxury. With Porto Montenegro as its glittering centerpiece. The hotspot for anyone who loves the good life.

Despite its rich history, it is one of the youngest settlements in the Bay of Kotor. For a long time, tourists ignored this town. After Montenegro and Yugoslavia went on independently, Tivat fell into disrepair.

A big investment by some wealthy people later and now the part of Tivat they invested in, Porto Montenegro, is the place where the (inter)national jet set likes to come. Luxury stores and restaurants define the streetscape there.

However, Tivat also has an authentic part where prices are lower. Charming streets invite you to spend an afternoon strolling along the promenade that extends to the small harbor Kalimani. If you want to get to know the locals, it is great fun to participate in one of the many folk festivals. Sightseeing is also plentiful. For example, there is Villa Buca, built entirely in Renaissance style. Once the center of the town, now a museum and gallery with summer playground.

Bar, tradition in a nice jacket

Bar surprises with a unique mix in which old and new go hand in hand. Bar is a port town, with surrounding tourist villages like Sutomore and interesting beaches like Buljarica.

Stari Bar (Old Bar) is a historical and cultural landmark. Stari Bar is located 5 kilometers inland above Bar. In recent years, this unique place is coming back to life with traditional handicrafts and konobas (kind of restaurants).

The ruined town has charm and a rich historical heritage. The sights include the Turkish hamam, the mosque, the 17th century aqueduct and Orthodox churches.

By the way, Bar is famous for the olive oil produced there from the native olive Barska Zutica. In December there is an olive festival. Many people also visit the “oldest tree in Europe,” a more than 2,000-year-old olive tree with a circumference of about 10 meters.

Do you dream of a modern apartment in the middle of ancient heritage, surrounded by greenery? Then you will definitely feel at home in Bar.

Herceg Novi, views of ancient forts

Located in northwestern Montenegro, Herceg Novi is the first major resort you will encounter from Croatia. Not for nothing that it is a popular destination, as it is the entrance to the Bay of Kotor.

The old town of Stari Grad, with large lively squares, beautiful churches and large fortresses is where it all happens. To get here you do have to climb up some steps, but that os not a punishment with all those little beautiful alleys around you. If you go down those steps, you will arrive at the pebble beaches and dozens of terraces on the coast.

In the evening it is very busy here. Both families eating ice cream on the promenade and groups of friends having a beer on the beach before heading into one of the clubs.

The homes here offer stunning views of the bay. The town is adorned with botanical gardens, historic squares and a promenade. The lifestyle is relaxed, with a mix of cultural events and beach activities.

Petrovac, tranquility and nature go hand in hand here

Looking for serene silence away from the crowds? In Petrovac you can expect sandy beaches and breathtaking views. Here you will find the balance between relaxation and connection with nature. Petrovac is located on the coast and lies between Budva and Bar. Right at the point where the old mountain road from the Montenegrin capital Podgorica reaches the coast.

The houses are mainly facing the sea and offer breathtaking views. The town is known for its sandy beaches, the old Venetian fortress and the small islands of Katič and Sveta Neđelja. The lifestyle here is slow-paced, ideal for relaxation and nature lovers.
