Town house in Chora (Sikinos)

This two-level, 128 sqm traditional Cycladic dwelling in “Chorio”, the main settlement on the island of Sikinos, has been fully and meticulously renovated, offering majestic, panoramic views of the Aegean Sea, and the islands of Santorini and Ios.Originally built in the 1850s, with the first floor added in 1927, the house was fully renovated in the 1990s, including the fitting of new wiring, and the owner has documented the process. Its area is 128 sqm and occupies its entire plot. It offers a total of five rooms, with a spacious living room, a functional kitchen, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, fitted with showers. All frames are pinewood, fitted with shutters and single-glazed. Floors in the living room, dining room/bedroom and office areas are laid with pitch pine. The tiled floors in the kitchen and bathroom are the original tiles from 1927. All other floors are laid in grey schist from Evia.The property includes the ruins of a house on a 76.10 sqm plot, just below the residence. The stone walls are still standing to their original height and in good condition with natural wear and tear on the original plaster.  The roof is intact only on one room. There is a tiny garden outside the kitchen and a mini yard at the entrance. However, it is a well-proportioned house with potential if developed in line with the surrounding architecture and with respect to keeping the original height of the roof.

Location

Situated in the southern part of the Cyclades complex, the island of Sikinos is untouched by mass tourism. No heavy-duty vehicles are allowed on the island, which is connected by ferry to Piraeus (9h), Ios (25 m), and Santorini (2h), as well as the other islands in the Cyclades.The island has three settlements: Chorio, Kastro, and Alopronia, which is the port. Kastro is the centre of the island’s life, with shops, an ATM, a medical centre, restaurants, and bars. No vehicles are allowed inside this traditional settlement. Chorio, where the property is located, is adjacent to Kastro, which is only three minutes away on foot, while it is primarily residential and adorned with three postcard churches. These two settlements are collectively known as the island’s “Chora”, the main town.The four main beaches of the island, Malta Beach, Dialiskari, Ai Giorgis, and Santorinaika are located on its southern side and can be easily reached by car (8-10 min. drive). The south part of the island offers majestic views of Santorini and, weather permitting, of Crete, while its northern side faces Sifnos, Paros, and Naxos.
